Dr. Sullivan was born in Los Angeles,
California.
In 1973, he graduated from Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, New
Jersey, a private college preparatory school.
In 1977, he graduated from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, with
a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
He began his international medical studies at the Autonomous
University of Guadalajara School of Medicine. He completed his medical
studies at UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical College (now Robert Wood Johnson),
Piscataway, New Jersey.
He successfully completed his Ob/Gyn residency at the UMDNJ-Jersey
Shore Medical Center, Neptune, New Jersey, where he served as Chief
Resident and Clinical Instructor. He was the recipient of the Research
Award 1987 for his work on magnesium sulfate for the treatment and
prevention of pre-term labor. |

He has attended post graduate courses in infertility with Johns
Hopkins Medical School, Baltimore, Maryland; urogynecology with
Harvard Medical College, Cambridge, Massachusetts; ultrasound with
Bowman Gray School of Medicine, North Carolina; and laser surgery with
the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina. He was a
member of the international congress for the study of cesarean section
rates at the Rotunda, Dublin, Ireland, sponsored by the American
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
He served as Adjunct Professor of the Georgia Southern University,
School of Nursing, Statesboro, Georgia. He is also the Chairman of the
Board of the Center for Irish Studies of Georgia Southern University.
Dr. Sullivan co-authored Genital Warts and Contagious Cancers: The
Coming Epidemic, McFarland & Co., a book on the diagnosis and
treatment of abnormal pap smears.
He served as Chairman of the Board of Bulloch Memorial Hospital from
1995-1999. During his tenure BMH was awarded the Top 100 Hospitals
Award. As Chairman, he attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the
new East Georgia Regional Medical Center, which replaced BMH. He was
responsible for the inception and planning of the Women's Pavilion of
the new center.
He is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a
Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG),
and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Dr. Sullivan is a current member of the American Academy of Pain
Management and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
Dr. Sullivan is the Executive Director of The Women's Surgery Center,
Statesboro, Georgia. |
