Many women claim that
the fear and anxiety caused by an abnormal pap smear is the
worst part of the experience. First the patient receives a letter
notifying her of the abnormality. Then she needs to make an
appointment with her doctor to discuss the result a week or so
later.
Then she is scheduled for a colposcopy and biopsy two to four weeks after that. Then she
returns a week or so later to discuss the biopsy results. Then a
treatment procedure is scheduled two to four weeks after. |

By the time the
patient has received final treatment (and relief for her anxiety), often
eight to twelve nerve-wracking weeks have passed!
The physicians of
Statesboro Ob/Gyn Specialists are now pleased to announce:
Same Day
Diagnosis and Treatment of Abnormal Pap Smears.
The patient brings a
copy of her abnormal pap smear to our office in the morning and is
evaluated by one of our board certified gynecologists. A colposcopy is
performed and the biopsy results are reported within one hour.
Depending upon these results the appropriate final treatment is performed
that afternoon in The Women's
Surgery Center without the need to be hospitalized. Three months of
dread are eliminated.
If you have had an
abnormal pap smear please call for an appointment today. Don't
forget to ask about our Same Day Diagnosis and Treatment Service!
